Worlds Largest Sand Sculpture Festival Supports Solitary Action

International Sand Sculpture Festival, FIESA 2008, opened to the public, 22 of May and received until now around 95.000 visitors, exceeding the expectations of the organization.

Next Thursday, Fiesa will be visited by Over 3.000 elders and children on a solidarity action. Organization of the event collaborates with several local institutions to offer a unique day for many elders and disable children in Algarve.

The Festival takes place in Portugal, and presents, in 35.000 tons of sand, constructed according to the theme "Hollywood". Exhibition represents most famous Hollywood movies and history of the cinema, in its giant 15.000 m2 set up.

FIESA is considered as the biggest sand sculpture event of the world, and recently a gathering place of some of the most internationally recognized sand sculptors. This year participate 65 international carvers on FIESA, and sand city is constructed on total of 45 work days.

FIESA will be open to the public until the 22 of October, every day, 10 am to 12 pm and will be integrating a vast program of cultural animation and activities during the summer.
