Pharmacy Students Taught Improved Medication Adherence and Holistic Health Services Through Program Incorporating InforMedix's Med-eXpert(TM) System

ROCKVILLE, Md., July 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- InforMedix Holdings, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: IFMX) is pleased to announce that Auburn University's Harrison School of Pharmacy has successfully incorporated InforMedix's Med-eMonitor and Med-eXpert Systems into its teaching curriculum, to teach the role of the community pharmacist in ensuring proper medication adherence and holistic health management and consulting. Acting as a "community pharmacist," a team of pharmacy students and their advisors evaluated pharmacy early practice experience patients for potential benefit from the Med-eMonitor smart pillbox and Med-eXpert information system, which provides real-time, customizable, actionable information on the medication adherence and health status of chronically ill patients. They selected a woman taking 14 different medications, who is taking these medications to treat congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, chronic pain, and to reduce her risk of stroke. In addition to monitoring the adherence for each of the 14 medications, the patient is being monitored for general health status, and for any changes to her prescribed medication regimen. Benefitting from the urgent alerts being sent from Med-eXpert to the student pharmacist and family members who worked together to ensure that the patient remained adherent to her medication and that her health remained stable, the patient also took her Med-eMonitor with her on vacation to maintain these benefits while away.

The Med-eMonitor and Med-eXpert Systems received strongly positive reviews from the patient, her family members, and pharmacy faculty members at Auburn's Harrison School of Pharmacy. Auburn University has an international reputation for evaluating and teaching how cutting edge technology can enhance the practice of pharmacy, and the role of the pharmacist as a consultant in holistically evaluating and advising patients with respect to their medications and health.

Bill G. Felkey, Professor of Pharmacy at Auburn University, commented, "For some time now I have incorporated the Med-eMonitor and Med-eXpert Systems into my presentations on cutting edge tools to be used by pharmacists to enhance their consulting capabilities and professional identity. It is truly a closed-loop solution that has stood the test of time. The next step was to actually deploy InforMedix's medication adherence and health status information solutions live in our teaching environment to provide hands-on, real-time experience for our pharmacy students. I am pleased to report that we have been highly satisfied with both the Med-eMonitor smart pillbox and Med-eXpert Information System in linking together the patient, family members, and pharmacist to optimize her health and medication adherence, and provide an important and central role for the pharmacist. Med-eXpert's real-time alerts have provided valuable information to enable the pharmacist to provide targeted interventions to improve the patient's medication adherence and health status."

Bruce A. Kehr, M.D., CEO of InforMedix, noted, "We are privileged that the internationally renowned Harrison School of Pharmacy at Auburn University selected our Med-eMonitor and Med-eXpert Systems as part of their teaching curriculum, and that their levels of satisfaction were high. This supports an important commercial role for our Med-ePhone, Med-eMonitor, and Med-eXpert information solutions in independent and chain drug stores, to enhance the practice of pharmacy, and enable pharmacists to more effectively support the medication adherence and health status of their consumers."
