Sterlingfest Art & Jazz Fair Set for July 31-Aug. 2 in Sterling Heights


Festival hours are 10 a.m. - 11 p.m. daily

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich., July 2 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Rock legend REO Speedwagon highlights three days of music, food, children's entertainment and arts and crafts as part of the Sterlingfest Art & Jazz Fair inSterling Heights.

This year's festival takes place July 31-Aug. 2 in Dodge Park and the City Center, located at Dodge Park and Utica Road.

Featuring such hits as "Keep on Loving You," "Can't Fight This Feeling," and "Take it on the Run," REO Speedwagon will perform free at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2 on the Dodge Park stage as part of the Sterlingfest Chrysler Concert Series.

The five-man band, named after a truck once manufactured by the REO Motor Car Co., is in the midst of a multi-city tour that will bring the group toSterling Heights.

"We're extremely pleased to have REO Speedwagon as the national headliner for Sterlingfest," said Community Relations Director Steve Guitar. "The band's rich history of power ballads and rock and roll is sure to draw fans of all ages to Sterling Heights."

The Sterlingfest Chrysler Concert Series also features The Square Pegz, a retro party band featuring music of the 80s on Thursday, July 31 at 7 p.m. (following the balloon launch), and a double-bill Friday, Aug. 1 at 7 p.m. with the Spirit of 76, "a rock extravaganza of 70s music," and The X-Generation, "a high energy 90s experience," followed by the Meijer Laser Light Show.

In addition to free nightly concerts, Sterlingfest offers continuous entertainment during the day at the Ford Suds 'n' Sounds stage in Dodge Park, the Jazz and Blues Court near the Upton House and lots of fun activities for children in the AT&T Kidzfest and along the Family Midway, both located in Dodge Park.

Food from a dozen local restaurants will be available along Restaurant Row in Dodge Park, while kids can have lots of fun at the Family Midway, also located in Dodge Park.

Finally, arts and crafts shoppers can stroll the City Center and browse the booths of nearly 100 artisans.

Sterlingfest hours are 10 a.m.-11 p.m. each day, with parking available on city property near the festival and schools along Dodge Park Road. Shuttle bus transportation is available for $1 per person.
