Vyta Corp and Justin Holdings Announced Successful Test Results Combating Infectious Process (IP) in Broilers Fed BIOAGRA's Proprietary All-Natural Feed Ingredient AGRASTIM(R)

DENVER, July 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Vyta Corp (OTC Bulletin Board: VYTC) and Justin Holdings, Inc., equal owners of their joint venture, BIOAGRA, LLC, today announced the completion of another successful study of the efficacy of AGRASTIM(R), BIOAGRA's proprietary all-natural Beta-1,3/1,6-D-glucan feed supplement. Broilers infected with E. coli, the bacteria that causes the poultry disease, Infectious Process (IP), showed improved feed conversion and weight gain, and reduced mortality when fed AGRASTIM(R), compared to the standard industry treatment. AGRASTIM(R), a biologically active yeast Beta-1,3/1,6-D-glucan with a guaranteed minimum purity level of 80%, is manufactured, marketed, and distributed by BIOAGRA, LLC.

This study was initiated by interest from two large broiler integrators that have experienced extensive losses from IP. The E. coli isolates used in the study were provided by one of these large integrators from actual field cases.

It is estimated that the US broiler industry loses 900 million broilers annually to the effects of IP, or just under 1% of all birds started. Poultry growers in many areas of the US, especially the Mid-Atlantic and Southwestern regions, are severely affected by IP.

This study was conducted by Stephen W. Davis, DVM, Dip. ACPV, of Colorado Quality Research, Inc.,Wellington, Colorado, and was designed to demonstrate that AGRASTIM(R) can safely and effectively combat the effects of IP and facilitate healing in chickens that have been challenged by Escherichia coli.

AGRASTIM(R) fed birds had significantly improved weight gain and were an average of 2.37% heavier than the control birds at 28 days, the day the birds were challenged with E. coli. At the completion of the trial, day 42 (14 days after infection), the AGRASTIM(R) fed birds were similarly 2.4% heavier.

Lesion scores -- the means by which the incidence and severity of infection is measured -- for all AGRASTIM(R) treated birds were 24 to 48% lower than the non-treated challenged controls. In addition, Dr. Stephen Davis reported that "the E. coli related mortality was much lower in [AGRASTIM(R) treated birds] compared to the challenged control with 8.59% compared to 24.22%."

Dr. Davis concluded, "These data indicate that the AGRASTIM(R) treated birds were healing from the E. coli challenge or did not develop as severe lesions [as did] the challenge control birds."

This is the third in a series of independent studies conducted over the last twelve months that successfully demonstrate AGRASTIM(R) to be effective in combating the effects of severe bacterial challenges that lead to cellulitis, necrotic enteritis and IP in poultry. AGRASTIM(R) is capable of safely and cost-effectively replacing antibiotics in feedstock through its mode of action that naturally activates the immune processes to combat infections and effect healing and health.

Paul Metzinger, President and CEO of Vyta Corp, said, "The results of this and two previous studies have brought AGRASTIM(R) to the attention of major industry players. We are pleased to now be actively working with 4 of the top ten US poultry integrators. Through these integrators and our current customer base, nearly 7 million birds will be added to those already benefiting from AGRASTIM(R). AGRASTIM(R)'s consistent performance in reducing losses due to mortality and disease, while dramatically improving weight gain and feed conversion, has again been validated."

"The US poultry industry is experiencing dramatic losses and cutbacks due to the high cost of feed and energy. We believe that the significant feed conversion benefits of AGRASTIM(R), as shown in this and previous trials, can result in considerable feed cost savings to BIOAGRA's customers," said Mr. Metzinger.

AGRASTIM(R) has been listed by The Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) as approved for use in organic production. AGRASTIM(R) is manufactured, marketed, and distributed by BIOAGRA, LLC.
