New Contract for UPM Blandin Sets Positive Course for the Future
GRAND RAPIDS, Minn., July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- UPM Blandin Paper,Grand
Rapids, Minnesota, and Teamsters Union Local 346 have ratified a new four-year
labor agreement following two weeks of negotiations.
"The new agreement helps position the mill very well for the future," said
General Manager Joe Maher. "We are pleased with the efforts of both
negotiating teams and look forward to a productive four years ahead."
The union membership voted 81 percent in favor of the contract which
includes general wage increases and changes to the benefits package as well as
some language changes.
The negotiating process was described by both parties as positive and
productive. "It was clear at the table that the employees and company share
the same goal-to have a strong and competitive mill operation," said Patrick
Radzak, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 346. "It was a very business-like
negotiation that resulted in a fair economic package for the membership."
The previous contract expired June 30. Teamsters Local 346 represents
nearly 400 employees at UPM Blandin Paper.
