Arizona's Governor, State Legislature Tell Those About To Rock, We Salute You

PHOENIX, July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Decades Music Theme Park, a plan years in the making, got the final nod needed from theState of Arizona to turn the massive theme park into reality.

Governor Janet Napolitano's approval late Friday, following the State Senate's days earlier, allows for the creation of a "regional attraction district" betweenPhoenix andTucson inEloy, Arizona. The legislation authorizes up to $750 million in new bonds to pay for project costs.

TheState of Arizona's legislation follows that ofSouth Carolina's which helped make possible the $450 million Hard Rock Park which opened earlier this year inMyrtle Beach.

"Thanks to Republican and Democrat leadership inArizona we have a tremendous framework and financing mechanism to bring a dynamic new attraction to one of the country's great tourism markets.Arizona is the largest market in the country without a theme park and we aim to change that," Decades Founders Marty West and Greg Sherman said.

West and Sherman are in negotiations with the following companies and individuals, among others, to play roles in the project:

* Fender Musical Instruments Corporation: The iconic brand of guitars, amplifiers, and all things rock-n-roll since 1946. Worldwide headquarters are located inScottsdale.

* Danny Zelisko: Mr. Zelisko currently serves as the head of Live Nation Arizona and has been the top concert promoter inArizona for the past three decades.

*Chicago-based Golub & Company: Golub has been active inArizona real estate for several years where they were most recently involved with the development of the Scottsdale Waterfront project. They have significant holdings in theChicago market including some of the community's signature properties.

* Phil Ehart: Mr. Ehart is the drummer, a founding member and manager for the famed rock bandKansas.

* And Peter Alexander, a theme park veteran from his work with Universal Studios Florida, Disney Tokyo and Epcot, has already agreed to be Decades' CEO.

West and Sherman said the project team will now work on forming the theme park district, raising additional capital and begin more significant work on the project's design.

They are hopeful of opening the park in 2012. For more information please go to http://www.DecadesUSA.com.
