Value Unlocked: Entergy Publishes 2007 Sustainability Report

NEW ORLEANS, June 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Entergy has released its 2007 sustainability report, Unlocking Value, which highlights the company's environmental, social and economic performance for the year.

Outlining Entergy's initiatives in areas such as safety, community involvement, environment and financial responsibility, the report covers all the goals achieved in 2007. The purpose of the sustainability report is to analyze Entergy's continual efforts to weigh the consequences of its actions while managing the needs of its diverse body of constituents.

"Our employees have worked diligently to understand and execute industry best practices in the areas of safety, environmental and social responsibility," said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer J. Wayne Leonard. "In some cases, where at the time no best practices existed, we developed our own practices and commitments, and have set the standard."

Along with a strong commitment to social issues, Entergy's dedication to environmental conservation is evident through the company's efforts to set and meet voluntary standards to stabilize CO2 emissions from its generating facilities. In 2007, the company continued to implement its comprehensive environmental strategy, which was launched in 2001. In addition to voluntarily limiting greenhouse gas emissions, the strategy focused on coastal restoration, energy efficiency, environmental community improvements and recycling.

Entergy was named to the exclusive Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for an unprecedented sixth consecutive year in 2007 and was the only U.S. utility selected for the world index. Last year also marked the safest year on record for Entergy employees.
