PetSmart Charities(R) Dispatches Emergency Relief Waggin' to Assist With Rescue of 700 Dogs From Tennessee Puppy Mill

PetSmart Charities received a request for its
Emergency Relief Waggin' in connection with an alleged puppy mill
situation, for which the Hickman County Sheriff's Department, the Tennessee
Department of Agriculture, the 21st Judicial District Drug Task Force and
the Tennessee Highway patrol were planning to execute a search warrant. In
response, PetSmart Charities dispatched from PetSmart's (NASDAQ: PETM)
Newnan, Georgia distribution center its fully loaded 53-foot trailer
stocked with emergency pet supplies and human responder equipment to
support up to 500 companion animals.
On June 25th, local and state authorities executed the search warrant on a
Hickman County property after receiving information that an alleged puppy
mill was being operated there in violation of Tennessee cruelty laws. The
pet supplies on the PetSmart Charities Emergency Relief Waggin' were
unloaded at the staging area to support the rescue of nearly 700 dogs.
The public can make a tax-deductible donation to help support the rescue
and pet victims of the Tennessee rescue and future disasters in one of two
