Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Establishes Hotline to Assist Members Following Recent Act of Workplace Violence

"Anthem and its 1,400 associates share in the sadness being felt following yesterday's tragic act of violence," said Deb Moessner, president of Anthem. "We are prepared to assist all Anthem members in these counties by offering this free crisis hotline to more than 600 employer groups and our individual members. We want the community to know trained health care professionals are available to help through these emotionally trying times."

The employee assistance line is 1-877-208-8240. This line is staffed 24 hours a day by skilled mental health care professionals who are trained to provide confidential, professional grief counseling and emotional support. EAP consultants will guide callers to use their behavioral health benefit when appropriate.

Anthem members in these five counties will also be provided with access to a specialized Web site with information and resources on issues such as grief, emotional trauma and depression. That is available at www.AnthemEAP.com. Members may log on as "Henderson." The telephone counseling and Web resources will be available at no cost until July 31, 2008.
