Comapping and MeadWestvaco (MWV) create strategic alliance to launch new product category
Roskilde, Denmark - June 26, 2008: Comapping, maker of the innovative Web-based mind mapping tool Comapping.com, has entered into a strategic product development and marketing alliance with U.S. group MWV Consumer & Office Products (www.mead.com).
The collaboration of the two companies has resulted in the development of Mead Map (www.meadmap.com), the first Web-based mind mapping application designed for the education community. Mead Map is a variant of Comapping.com developed in cooperation with MWV.
"The alliance with the Mead brand is a major step forward for Comapping. The powerful endorsement from MWV, a U.S. Fortune 500-company, with its leading brand in school supplies gives Comapping instant credibility as an innovative and easy to use online collaboration tool. And it specifically targets one of the largest segments within the mind mapping market," said Comapping CEO Omar Ahmad.
For more than 130 years, the Mead brand has been synonymous in the U.S. with innovative school supplies, including brands like Trapper Keeper® and Five Star®. With the Comapping alliance, Mead is now moving into the market for online organizing and collaboration solutions to supplement its existing product portfolio.
"Comapping is superior to other collaborative mind mapping tools in terms of usability, security, pricing and the unique left-to-right structure," said Jamie Coch, New Business Development for MWV Consumer & Office Products. "The additional convenience of online availability with no installation required was a compelling factor when we were choosing a partner to enter the market with for online collaboration and organizing tools for students and teachers."
Under the terms of the alliance, MWV is marketing Mead Map in the North American markets. Comapping is the only online collaborative mind map provider to have entered an alliance with a leading supplier of planning and organizing tools for school, private and office use.
Mead Map is designed for students to use for organizing, note-taking, sharing study notes, managing group project work, and collaborating with other students. While Mead Map focuses on the education market, Comapping continues to target the corporate sector with a similar collaboration tool for brainstorming, information sharing, minute taking and project management. In particular, real-time access by multiple users to a common map saves a lot of traveling and e-mails, and makes conference calls more effective and useful.
"We see huge potential for Comapping in all areas of the corporate market and for Mead Map at the college level. By improving working processes through real-time Web-based collaboration, the use of Mead Map and Comapping can result in considerable time and cost savings with better organization," said Ahmad.
