What Better Way to Celebrate July 4th in New England than to Sample the Best Ice Creams in the Region?
BOSTON, June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- RoadfoodDigest.com, the "definitive
resource for news, events and reviews of great regional food from around the
country," recently sent active contributors and New England Residents Stephen
Rushmore Jr., Chris Ayers and Amy Biersch on the daunting assignment of
identifying the top ice creams in New England.
The taste-testing journey of visiting 50 local and independent ice
creameries to sample hundreds of flavors and hot fudges, was conducted over a
period of two weekends. In this manner, all the tasting notes and experiences
were "fresh on the taste buds," explains Stephen.
Stephen, who posted 50 blog entries on RoadfoodDigest.com evaluating every
ice cream parlor that was visited, also pinpointed top flavors and hot fudge,
and provided photos to document the journey.
Top Honors were awarded to Tubby's Ice Cream ofWayne, Maine for the "most
natural tasting and texturally pleasing ice cream in New England." Stephen
explains that the Ice Cream Team thoroughly enjoyed the Tree Hugger Ice Cream,
which is "like your mom's apple crumble" consisting of a "velvety textured
maple ice cream, pleasantly interrupted by rolled oats."
Coming in at Number Two, Shaw's Ridge Farm inSanford, Maine features the
high-octane Grammy Shaw's Coffee Ice Cream. And ranking third among the Top 50
was Herrell's Ice Cream ofCambridge, MA and its Chocolate Pudding Ice Cream.
