Xobni Integrates With LinkedIn to Provide Instant Contact Information for Outlook

SAN FRANCISCO, June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Xobni, the popular new Outlook plug-in, today announced an integration with LinkedIn to incorporate key contact information from public profiles in its massive network of business professionals into the Xobni sidebar. Xobni for Outlook already provides its users with lightning-fast people and attachment search, automatic contact profiles, and a much needed "threaded" view of email conversations. With this addition, Xobni expands on these features by leveraging LinkedIn's powerful APIs to automatically show a contact's current employer, job title, link to their LinkedIn profile, and contact photo.

Though Xobni launched its first public product just 45 days ago, this is a significant step for the young startup and a notable improvement to the already powerful and well-received Outlook plug-in. This integration also further validates the power of LinkedIn's industry leading business network and is an example of the increasingly critical role it plays in the daily lives of business professionals.

By leveraging the public profiles of LinkedIn users, Xobni provides important context and utility for the inbox, particularly for those who receive emails from many new contacts on a regular basis. Additionally, for those times when you can't put a face to a name, the profile photo is a great reminder and makes those first face-to-face meetings much less awkward.

"We all use LinkedIn to improve and grow our professional networks. Now Xobni automatically brings key contact information instantly to your inbox, where it is incredibly valuable," said Matt Brezina, co-founder of Xobni. "Integrating with LinkedIn is our first move to bring information from the Internet about people and companies right to Outlook, and we think overloaded professionals are going to love it."

Professionals are calling for relief from their over-taxed inboxes; Xobni has come to the rescue, which is why PC World just called Xobni, "the must have plug-in for people that live in Outlook." With Xobni's simple inbox sidebar, Outlook users waste significantly less time searching for people, contact information, emails and attachments, and more time getting work done. Integrating LinkedIn's rich knowledgebase of professional information with Xobni's sidebar for Outlook is an important step in helping the hundreds of thousands of Xobni users get the information they want, when they need it.

"Outlook is a key application for millions of LinkedIn members," said Scott Roberts, senior director of Business Development at LinkedIn. "The addition of LinkedIn profile information into the sidebar in Outlook will make Xobni even more useful for overloaded professionals."

The Radicati Group, an email research firm, estimates that 210 billion emails are sent every day, and predicts that by 2012 that number will grow to 419 billion. This enormous growth in email volume leads to substantial information overload, exactly the problem Xobni is helping people combat.
