Origin and Science of Happiness explored by Dr. Joel Akande of Word and Happiness Institute
Book examines a completely new concept which has emerged to shed light into the understanding of happiness in humans.

For millennia, human beings have sought to understand why people get happy or unhappy. A unified theory of happiness has been described in a new book published by Authorhouse entitled, "The Road and the Key to Happiness," by U.K.-based medical doctor, Dr. Joel Akande, the director of Word and Happiness Institute.
There are currently several ideas, from as wide as monetary to religious to social reasons which are attempting to explain the root or science of happiness.
The new theory, described as the unified theory of happiness, combines the old with new realization to arrive at the causes of happiness or unhappiness. Put in another word, the concept, the author says, is the final common pathway that all individuals, groups, communities and nations must walk through en-route to happiness.
Combining widely held views with new ideas on what gives us happiness or unhappiness, Akande said: "Happiness occurs when we desire that our intentions, which we hold highly - say having a job, car, education or financial position - should be fully established or that our current default positions which we value deeply - say, marriage, love, relationships or health - should continue uninterrupted. Therefore when any of these are frustrated by forces beyond us - say death, an Act of God, our own conduct such as substances misuse, and natural forces - or by limitation set by other controls - legal boundaries or natural limitations - and we fail to achieve our intentions or desires, then, unhapiness sets in."
"Let us put it in another way: To be happy," adds Akande, "do what is 'good' or do what is prescribed as 'right' - that is, do acts that do not offend God's and human-made laws but acts that may also constructively promote your welfare and the wellbeing of others if possible, have faith in God, persevere patiently, plan strategically or wisely, act tactically to avoid the defeat of your legally compatible desire/intention, have adequate rest, and give thanks always."
