Mediacom South Central Adds Pentagon Channel on Demand

The Pentagon Channel recently expanded its Video on Demand (VOD) distribution to include the communities that Mediacom serves in Escambia County and Santa Rosa County, Florida.

The Pentagon Channel, in collaboration with Mediacom, launched its largest line of VOD product to date. Subscribers will have access to original Pentagon Channel programming such as RECON, Fit For Duty, and Grill Sergeants. In addition, Mediacom will also be offering the 2008 Naval Academy commencement ceremony. All of these programs are available as a free On Demand service.

Users can find the Pentagon Channel programming under Pentagon Channel in the MediacomLocal section of their On Demand service. On Demand can currently be accessed on Channel 1 of the programming guide. Video On Demand allows users to start, stop, rewind, fast-forward and pause programs without a VCR or DVD player. Local On Demand is free to all customers with a Mediacom digital set-top box.

On Demand instructions:
Ø Tune to Channel 1
Ø Select MediacomLocal
Ø Select Pentagon Channel

"Mediacom's decision to carry Pentagon Channel VOD content on their line up helps us fulfill our mission of providing timely military news and information to the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces," said Brian Natwick, General Manager of the Pentagon Channel. "We are delighted that Mediacom has decided to include Pentagon Channel programming in their communities in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties where a large faction of our servicemembers reside."

David Servies, Mediacom Regional Vice President said, "We are committed to providing high quality and relevant programming to the communities we service. Mediacom is proud to bring this unique content from Pentagon Channel into the homes of our customers, especially those men and women serving our country."

VOD systems allow users to select and watch video and clip content over a network. Part of an interactive television system, VOD systems either "stream" content, allowing viewing in real time, or "download" it bringing the program in its entirety to a set-top box before viewing starts. There is generally no cost to view VOD programming.
