Four Militants Killed on Kashmir Frontiers

Srinagar, June 22: At least four heavily armed militants were killed in frontier with Pakistan in North Kashmir.

Police sources said that yesterday forenoon a group of eight heavily armed militants managed to infiltrate into Kashmir from Pakistani side of Kashmir at Jumagund sector in North Kashmir. "The army personnel deployed on the frontier noticed the group and asked the militants to surrender. They, however, turned down the offer and fired from automatic weapons towards the soldiers. The fire was returned by the troops, triggering an encounter. Four militants were killed in the gunfight, which lasted till midnight", sources said, adding, "Four more militants managed to escape back into the Pakistani territory".

It is pertinent to mention here that Indian army has directed its soldiers on the frontiers with Pakistan in Kashmir to remain on high alert to thwart any attempts by militants to cross into Kashmir.
