Bear Lake County Commission Approves Four-Season Destination Resort, a First for Beautiful Bear Lake

The Bear Lake County Commission has approved
Black Bear Resort's Conceptual Master Plan for development of its
2,207-acre mountain community and the Preliminary Plat for Phase I
construction based on mutually agreed upon conditions. The Bear Lake
County Planning & Zoning Commission submitted to the Commissioners its
report and unanimous support of the resort two weeks ago.
Bear Lake County Commissioners Vaughn N. Rasmussen, Chairman, Montain D.
Kunz, and DeMar Romrell voted 2-1, respectively, to approve both the
Conceptual Master Plan and Preliminary Plat Phase I following nearly 18
months of work by the County, the County's consultants and Black Bear
Resort co-founders Brad Auger and Bruce Barrett.
"We believe the County's support demonstrates that this team has earned the
opportunity to build out the blueprint we have drawn together," said Auger.
"We are energized for the next stage of our hard work and at the prospect
of its economic and recreation potential for Bear Lake County and the
region."
Barrett added, "Bear Lake County is making an affirmative statement that it
is open to growth under planned and controlled conditions. Our team is
proud to be part of this community and looks forward to welcoming visitors
to experience this spectacular region for a round of golf, a hike in
Idaho's backcountry or as homeowners."
The resort has been approved for a combination of over 4,000 units of
residential properties and resort accommodations plus retail and common use
facilities. The resort will offer all traditional amenities, with special
emphasis on the Mountain West's recreational lifestyle such as on-site
alpine and cross country skiing, mountain biking and other active sports.
Above all, Black Bear's property is adjacent to scenic Bear Lake -- often
referred to as the "Caribbean of the Rockies" for the unique aqua color of
its waters. Surrounded by sandy beaches, Bear Lake waters are comfortable
and crystal clear, ideal for swimming, boating, water craft and fishing.
Construction on the mountain property will commence immediately as allowed
in the final agreement with the County. Commercial activities supporting
the project will be accelerated based on this approval. Priority
reservations for property purchases are now available.
The new all-season resort's overall master plan includes potential phased
construction of a luxury mountain village, signature golf courses created
by top designers in the industry, on-property skiing and a host of other
winter and summer amenities. The resort's property lies on a stunning
plateau immediately above Bear Lake -- one of the largest freshwater lakes
in the western U.S.
