MyLinuxSupport Inc. links up with Cebu Educational Development Foundation for Information Technology

The Cebu Educational Development Foundation for Information Technology (CEDF-IT) has accepted MyLinuxSupport, Inc. as an implementing partner in its Linux training courses

CEBU CITY, Philippines (EWORLDWIRE) Jun 20, 2008

An explosion of the information technology industry in the Phillipines has moved the Cebu Educational Development Foundation for Information Technology (CEDF-IT) to accept MyLinuxSupport Inc. as an implementing partner in CEDF-IT Linux training courses for local information technology personnel.

Over the last six years, Cebu City has grown to rank as the fourth most attractive emerging city in the world for business process outsourcing. Funded by local and international corporations, CEDF-IT's goal is to improve the quality of IT education. According to figures available from CEDF-IT, in 2001, Cebu City had 850 software developers with 7,000 employees and virtually no call centers. The city now boasts 5,000 software developers and employs more than 20,000 people.

Bonifacio Belen, president of CEDF-IT, said, "The excellent growth of Cebu City's IT industry may be traced back to cooperation between academia and industry. Many companies have been teaching their IT skills to universities. With the cooperation and help of companies like MyLinuxSupport, we're able to position our resources to service the open source market."

Vince Corning, CEO of MyLinuxSupport, is convinced that the Philippines - the world's eighth largest open source community, can establish itself as one of the top open-source call centers, both locally and internationally. "A highly-educated, English-speaking population with an excellent broadband network, makes Cebu an ideal place to provide Linux and other open-source services worldwide. When you pick up your phone and ask for open source and Linux technical support, Cebu City will answer your call."

MyLinuxSupport seeks to have more than 1,000 engineers providing support for Linux and other open-source applications 24-hours a day, 7-days a week.
