LI-COR(R) Biosciences Introduces New Tools for High Throughput Western Blotting
LINCOLN, Neb., June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- LI-COR Biosciences introduces a new
accessory, MPX(TM) (Multiplex) Blotting System, for its Quantitative Western
Blotting product line. The MPX System can be incorporated into a variety of
assays including primary and secondary antibody screening, monoclonal antibody
screening, signal transduction pathway analysis, or any other common Western
blotting procedure that generates a PVDF or nitrocellulose blot of 7 x 8.5 cm.
Processing is as simple as clamping the blot into the MPX System, creating
up to 24 independent channels. Channel ports are low volume, conveniently
spaced, and staggered and beveled for use with multi-channel pipettes. Other
advantages include no cross contamination or cross reactivity between
channels.
LI-COR's selection of IRDye(R) infrared dyes on the Odyssey(R) Infrared
Imaging System provides a maximum of 48 targets on a single membrane -- two
per channel, and the option for quantitative analysis. Standard
chemiluminescence and colorimetric detection methods can also be used, and can
provide a maximum of 24 targets.
The Odyssey Infrared Imaging System is uniquely equipped with two infrared
channels for direct fluorescence detection with high sensitivity and low
biological background fluorescence. The superior signal to noise ratio
produced using near-infrared dyes produces results not previously possible
with visible fluorescence-based imaging systems.
LI-COR(R) Biosciences is a leading manufacturer of near-infrared imaging
platforms, analysis software, and LI-COR IRDye(R) infrared dye reagents for
genomic, proteomic, and molecular imaging applications. LI-COR pioneered the
development of near-infrared fluorescence detection systems for DNA sequencing
and today provides systems for drug discovery, protein research, small animal
imaging, and undergraduate training. LI-COR instruments for photosynthesis,
carbon dioxide analysis and light measurement are recognized worldwide for
standard-setting innovation in plant science research and environmental
monitoring. Founded in 1971, the privately held company is based inLincoln,
Nebraska, with subsidiaries inGermany and theUnited Kingdom. LI-COR systems
are used in over 100 countries and are supported by a global network of
distributors. More information at http://www.licor.com.
