Solae to Demonstrate Technologies at IFT That Help Food Companies Manage Costs, Deliver Health and Wellness Benefits

Solae, the world leader in providing soy
protein solutions to food companies, will showcase several new concepts
that address consumer health and wellness needs, improve food functionality
and provide significant costs savings for manufacturers at booth 3727 at
the 2008 IFT Annual Meeting & Food Expo in New Orleans June 28-July 1.
A few of the innovative health and wellness concepts that will be shown
include:
-- Pomegranate-Acai Heart-Healthy Smoothie -- A 100 percent juice
smoothie with antioxidant-rich "superfruits" and soy protein.
-- Dark Chocolate Goji Berry Bliss -- A high-protein bar with soy
protein, dark chocolate and exotic goji berries.
-- Mini Barbeque Vegetarian Beef Sandwiches -- Tender, shredded
vegetarian beef (featuring Solae's SUPRO® MAX structured vegetable
proteins) in a tangy barbeque sauce on a mini roll.
"These Solae product concepts highlight just a few of the ideas that our
applications and marketing teams are working on to help food manufacturers
develop innovative and consumer-relevant products," said Jean Heggie, Solae
director of marketing. "In addition, these products deliver health and
wellness benefits, capitalizing on soy's natural and healthy positioning."
Cost management will be another key theme at the Solae booth. Solae's
SUPRO® MAX structured vegetable protein will be highlighted in culinary
demonstrations, showing how SUPRO® MAX structured vegetable proteins,
when combined with lower-cost meat and poultry raw materials, enhances the
quality and value of such materials. And with dairy protein prices
remaining at elevated levels, beverage and bar concepts will demonstrate
how manufacturers can reduce protein costs and supply volatility by using
soy protein as an alternative to dairy protein.
"There has never been a better time for food companies to consider soy
protein as an economical, functional and healthy alternative to other
proteins," Heggie said.
As a high-quality protein source, soy protein addresses key health and
wellness areas: heart health, satiety/weight management, lean muscle mass
development and maintenance, and sustained energy.
Several Solae representatives will be at the company's booth to discuss the
benefits of Solae's soy proteins. For more information on the Solae
