PSE&G Looking for New Audiences for Its Summer Safety Program for Kids
NEWARK, N.J., June 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- PSE&G's Safety Van is
hitting the road again this summer, and the utility is inviting libraries,
summer recreation programs, and community organizations to suggest venues
suitable for a visit.
PSE&G has been steadily growing its summer Safety Van program over the
last four years, teaching a greater number of children in a greater number of
neighborhoods how to avoid danger associated with electricity and natural gas.
The utility wants to further expand its program by reaching out to new
audiences and working with kids that haven't yet heard its presentation and
potentially life-saving tips.
With the help of tabletop displays that simulate accidents, PSE&G's
instructors teach youngsters that while electricity and gas power many good
things, accidents can happen when safety is an afterthought.
Their interactive demonstrations make clear how important it is to stay
away from downed power lines, electrical transformers and substations-and that
water and electricity don't mix. Children are given safety literature to take
home and share with their families.
Do you have a good program that the Van should visit? Let PSE&G know. Call
PSE&G's Safety Van instructors Frank Francia and Rebeca Morano at

Note that the Safety Van is strictly a summer program for children. It
runs through August 8th in neighborhoods acrossNew Jersey served by PSE&G.
The program is typically targeted to English and Spanish speaking children
ages 5 to 12. A limited number of openings are available, and presentations
are provided Monday through Friday during business hours.
