Support Our Troops! Freedom Alliance Event Sponsored for Fort Knox Soldiers

On June 12, forty-seven service members enjoyed an evening at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in Louisville, Kentucky. Sponsored by Freedom Alliance, this Troop Appreciation Dinner was held for the soldiers of the 19th Engineer Battalion stationed at Fort Knox. The dinner was held to say "thank you" to the soldiers for their service and sacrifice.

"Events such as these," explained Freedom Alliance President Tom Kilgannon, "are a way for us to say thank you to the troops for their service in our armed forces, the dedication they bring to their jobs, and the honor with which they serve our nation."

The soldiers of the 19th Engineer Battalion were activated in August 2006 and returned from duty in Iraq in November of 2007. During this period the company provided leadership and administration of all battalion staff sections and provided command and control for up to three engineer platoons.

The Troop Appreciation Dinner at Fort Knox was one of twenty-one similar events held by Freedom Alliance in support of our troops so far this year. Other Troop Appreciation Dinners have been hosted for servicemen and women at Fort Campbell in Kentucky, Fort Bliss in Texas, Fort Carson in Colorado, Brooke Army Medical Center in Texas, McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey and Fort Bragg in North Carolina, among others.

In addition to hosting Troop Appreciation Dinners, Freedom Alliance distributes "gifts from home" care packages to military personnel deployed overseas and provides scholarships to children of military heroes, among other programs. For more information please visit FreedomAlliance.org.
