Joseph A. Garcia Joins Spanish Broadcasting System's Board of Directors
Long Time Company Executive Voted to Board by Shareholders on June 3rd
Spanish Broadcasting System (SBS) (NASDAQ: SBSA) announced today that Chief Financial Officer, Joseph A. Garcia, was voted to the company's Board of Directors by its shareholders on June 3, 2008. His appointment is effective immediately.
"I'm honored to be joining the company's Board of Directors and taking an even greater leadership role into such a wonderful company," said Mr. Garcia. "It is a great opportunity to continue to make a contribution that positively shapes Spanish Broadcasting System's direction and future."
Mr. Garcia is responsible for the Company's financial affairs, operational and administrative matters, as well as investor relations. During his tenure, he has led several key acquisitions of broadcasting stations and other assets, as well as the development and execution of major financial transactions, including taking the Company public in November 1999.
Apart from his recent appointment to the Board of Directors, Mr. Garcia has served as Chief Financial Officer of Spanish Broadcasting System since 1984. He was named Executive Vice President in 1996, and became Secretary of the Company in 1999.
Prior to joining SBS, Mr. Garcia spent 13 years in international financial planning positions with Philip Morris (Altria) and Revlon, where he was Manager of Financial Planning for Revlon-Latin America.
Joseph Garcia holds a Master's Degree (MBA) from St. John's University and a Bachelor's Degree in Finance from Baruch College. He is a member of the Advisory Board of St. John's University and a two-time recipient of The Outstanding Achievement Award from this institution.
