Teeing Off For a Great Cause; Salvation Army to Host Fourth Annual $175,000 Kettle Challenge


PITTSBURGH, June 10 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Monday, June 16th,Pittsburgh area business leaders will converge on the course at St. Clair Country Club. The Salvation Army's Third Annual Kettle Challenge Invitational Golf Outing is designed to raise $175,000 to supportAllegheny County social services, disaster, and the downtown Pittsburgh Family Caring Center and Shelter. This year's event is led by Michael Blackwood, President and Chief Executive Officer of Gateway Health Plan.

"We are honored to have Michael Blackwood lead the challenge this year," said The Salvation Army's Western Pennsylvania Divisional Commander, Major Robert Reel. He continued, "Pittsburgh's business community is a generous one. Another big plus is that we also have a generous underwriter that covers the expense of this event. That means 100% of the proceeds from the Kettle Challenge Invitational will directly fund vital support programs."

Hole-in-one prizes include a Lexus and luxury model Toyota from Rohrich; a Mustang from Woltz & Wind Ford; and a $100,000 cash prize. Wal-Mart has also generously provided support in funding some very special bonus gifts for all participants.

The breakout of the day's events is as follows: Registration 10:30 am; Lunch 11:00 am; Shotgun Start 12:30 pm; Dinner and Awards Presentation 6:00 pm. Stand-up comic, Justin Fennell from "Just Clean Fun" provides the evening's entertainment.
