Magellan Resumes Refined Products Distribution at Kansas City Terminal
TULSA, Okla., June 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Magellan Midstream
Partners, L.P.'sKansas City, Kansas terminal resumed operations at its truck
loading facility at 3 p.m. (Central) today. Safely reopening the truck loading
facility assists in providing adequate fuel supplies for local retailers. In
addition, the company has resumed partial operations of its pipeline system
serving the Kansas City Terminal which also serves other petroleum
distribution terminals further north on its pipeline system.
Operations of the truck loading facility and pipeline system were
temporarily disrupted when a fire ignited after an apparent lightning strike
at an above ground storage tank at approximately 7:45 p.m. last night.
"The tank fire remains contained allowing us to safely resume operations
with minimal supply disruptions," said Bruce Heine, Magellan spokesman.
The fire was isolated to one tank that contained approximately 28,000
barrels of unleaded gasoline at the time of the event.
No injuries have occurred as a result of the event. Federal, state and
local authorities remain on the scene.
Magellan'sKansas City terminal provides distribution services for
gasoline, gasoline / ethanol blends, diesel and jet fuel for the local
marketplace.
