WomenCount PAC & Count Every Vote '08 Team up to Organize Rally on May 31st in DC


SAN FRANCISCO, May 27 /PRNewswire/ -- WomenCount PAC and Count Every Vote '08 are working together to promote and organize a rally inWashington, DC, on May 31st when the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee meets to decide the outcome of the votes inMichigan andFlorida.

WomenCount, a recently formed political action committee that advocates on behalf of women's voices in politics, will be running full page ads in the New York Times, among other publications, driving awareness and participation to the rally. Count Every Vote '08 will focus on the logistics and program.

"Recent presidential elections have taught us how important it is to ensure that every vote cast in this country is counted. It is a foundational principle of our American democracy," said Karen Feldman of Count Every Vote '08. "The feeling that we have somehow lost control of our political process is growing -- and people are demanding that this basic principle be realized and restored."

Participants are coming from 26 states across the country via train, plane, and bus. "This rally is consistent with the message of our new PAC, which is to ensure that the values and votes of women are counted in the political process," said Stacy Mason, managing director of WomenCount PAC. "Every vote cast in this election must be counted so that we know our voices are heard."

The rally will be held on Woodley Rd., NW between 27th St. NW and Connecticut Avenue inWashington, D.C. on May 31st. It begins at 7 a.m. and will end at the conclusion of the DNC meeting or once every vote counts! The DNC meeting will be held at the Mariott Wardman Park Hotel, 2660 Woodley Rd., NW. Speakers, schedule and entertainment will be announced as information becomes available.

WomenCount PAC was created to ensure that the 51 percent of American citizens who are women have their values and votes counted in the political process.
