21st Century Democrats Endorses 9 New Progressive Leaders
21st Century Democrats is proud to announce the endorsement of nine additional candidates for the 2008 election cycle. These progressive leaders are the first of 27 candidates selected for endorsement by 21st Century Democrats Board of Directors at their quarterly meeting earlier this month.
"I am very excited about this group," said 21st Century Democrats Executive Director Mark Lotwis. "They have the ideas and experiences that will allow them to be powerful forces for change for America's working families. I am confident that they will play an important role in putting America back on track."
21st Century Democrats endorses candidates who have a passion for and commitment to progressive ideals. Once elected, these leaders will be important players in the fight to change America by promoting and implementing policies that will address the challenges facing our country. This group of candidates from several of the country's most fiercely contested battleground states including Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas and Washington.
21st Century Democrats Second Round Endorsements include:
-Jeff Merkley - US Senate, Oregon
-Judy Baker - US Congress, 9th District, Missouri
-André Carson - US Congress, 7th District, Indiana
-Ben Luján - US Congress, 3rd District, New Mexico
-Dennis Shulman - US Congress, 5th District, New Jersey
-Chris Gregoire - Governor, Washington
-Andy Meisner - Treasurer, Oakland County, Michigan
-Wendy Davis - State Senate, 10th District, Texas
-Rick Taylor - State House, 151st District, Pennsylvania
21st Century Democrats is a Washington, D.C. based grassroots-oriented political action committee that endorses and helps elect progressive Democrats by placing field organizers in campaigns.
