MEIS Architects, Designer of LA NFL Stadium, to Merge with Global Design Giant

Dan Meis, FAIA, of Meis Architects announced this week that he will merge his practice with the global architecture firm Aedas. Meis, perhaps best known as the designer of Los Angeles' iconic Staples Center, Seattle's SafeCo Field and Cincinnati's Paul Brown Stadium, is currently designing the recently announced Los Angeles NFL Stadium.

Recognized by Time Magazine in 2001 as one of the most important innovators in the design of sports facilities, Meis has recently diversified his practice to include the design of residential, mixed-use, retail, and corporate headquarter facilities.

Aedas, currently ranked as the world's fourth largest architecture firm, employs over 2200 architects in 35 offices worldwide. With design centers in Hong Kong, New York and London, Aedas is one of the fastest growing design practices in the world. The strategic addition of a Los Angeles location to the long-standing presence in New York will further enhance Aedas' position in the Americas.

"This was an amazing opportunity for us to add extreme diversity and global reach to our practice," said Meis. "Los Angeles is a very large market with clients in every market sector. Aedas is one of the most sophisticated design firms on the planet and I am excited to be a part of bringing a large firm of this quality, diversity and reputation to the Los Angeles market."

Aedas is currently building some of the world's most complex buildings. In addition to mixed-use resorts, transportation, corporate, and retail projects, the firm has designed one of the world's tallest condominium towers in Dubai, currently under construction.

"Aedas is delighted to be working with Dan. His wealth of experience and design talent will be a tremendous asset to Aedas," said Keith Griffiths, RIBA, FHKIA, Chairman of Aedas.

"Under Dan's leadership, the L.A. office will become an international design center with projects across Asia and the Americas. We are particularly looking forward to establishing a strong Sports Design practice at Aedas and having Dan's insight to further develop the Aedas practice globally," added J. Max Bond, Jr., FAIA, Senior Partner of the New York office of Aedas.
