Icelandic Museum Features 261 Male Organs

By Robert Paul Reyes

Sigurdur Hjartarson is missing a human penis. But he's not worried: four men have promised to donate theirs to him when they die.

Hjartarson is founder and owner of the Icelandic Phallological Museum, which offers visitors from around the world a close-up look at the long and the short of the male reproductive organ.

His collection, which began in 1974 with a single bull's penis that looked something like a riding crop, now boasts 261 preserved members from 90 species." Quotation from Reuters

According to the Reuters article, 60% of the visitors to the museum are women. Some of the specimens are dried and mounted on the wall; I have a sneaking suspicion that some ladies wish their husband's genitalia would meet this gruesome fate.

It must be an unnerving experience for men to view disembodied male organs. I wouldn't be surprised if most guys unconsciously and protectively reach for their family jewels at some point during the tour of the museum.

The largest penis on display is from a sperm whale and it measure 5.58 ft. long. Most guys probably leave the museum feeling inadequate; I hope there's a pub nearby.

There is no human penis on display, and there's no truth to the rumor that one of the four men who promised to donate his penis is Bill Clinton.

It's sad to see the male essence reduced to a penis, why not a collection of male brains? Of Course, some women would argue that a collection of male organs is the same thing as a collection of male brains
