Panthers Party Urge Governor to Dismiss Qarra

By Jagdev Singh

Prof. Bhim Singh, Chairman of JKNPP in a strong memorandum to the J&K Governor, Lt. General (retd.) Shri S.K. Sinha urged to fire the Finance Minister, Tariq Hamid Qarra from the State Government in order to weed out the corrupt, communal and secessionist elements from the government. The Panthers Party Chief said in his memorandum that he was pained to seek such an action against Mr. Qarra because the Minister has crossed all the limits and disciplines as a Minister. Mr. Qarra's statement that the Vigilance Commission (which is headed by Dr. Ashok Bhan, one of the most honest officers in the state) has been indulging in anti-Kashmiri and anti-Muslim activities is highly condemnable and smacks foul in the mind of the Minister who had shady past for himself.

Mr. Qarra had recently pleaded for introducing Pakistan's currency in Jammu and Kashmir which itself is anti-national act. Mr. Qarra had taken oath of secrecy as a Minister and to uphold the sovereignty and integrity of India cannot be allowed to issue secessionists, communal and abusive statements challenging the secular character of the state.

Prof. Bhim Singh said that silence on the part of the Chief Minister and the Central leadership is dangerous for the unity and integrity of the state. He demanded immediate dismissal of the minister.
