Habitat for Humanity of Orange County's "Blaze of Glory" Motorcycle Ride to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall

Robert Patrick (CBS's "The Unit," "Terminator
2") and NY Mike, Harley Davidson San Diego owner, will participate in
Habitat for Humanity of Orange County's inaugural "Blaze of Glory" Poker
Run Motorcycle Ride on May 17, 2008. Once completing the "Blaze of Glory"
ride, they will join the "Run for the Wall" ride to the Vietnam Veterans
Memorial Wall.
The motorcycle event will feature Robert Patrick as the Grand Marshal, and
will be a 60-mile Poker run with five stops where best hand wins $250. One
of the stops will be at the site where Habitat for Humanity of Orange
County will soon begin construction on the first eight homes in their
27-home development in San Juan Capistrano. Three of the families that will
soon live at that site will be on hand for interviews, including two
military families.
"I'm doing this to heighten awareness of veterans' issues," said Robert
Patrick. "There are 150,000 troops that protect 350 million Americans and
we need to treat our veterans better when they return to our country. What
Habitat for Humanity of Orange County is doing is phenomenal."
More than 250 motorcycle riders have already registered for this event to
benefit Habitat for Humanity of Orange County's "Homes for Heroes and
Foundations for Families" neighborhood in San Juan Capistrano, where 14 of
the 27 homes to be built there are being marketed to combat-disabled
veterans.

About Habitat for Humanity of Orange County
Celebrating 20 years of changing lives and changing communities in Orange
County.
124 houses built in Orange County
Habitat for Humanity of Orange County, headquartered in Santa Ana, CA, is
dedicated to ending substandard housing and building strong communities in
Orange County. Habitat uses non-government donations of funding,
materials, professional services and volunteer labor to build simple,
decent homes which are sold to qualified low-income families for a 1% down
payment, closing costs, and a zero-interest mortgage. Mortgage payments
are recycled to build more Habitat homes. Habitat families contribute 500
hours of "sweat equity" to the program by building their own home, helping
another Habitat family build a home, or working in some other area of the
Habitat organization. Habitat for Humanity families and volunteers have
built 124 homes in Orange County since 1988.
250,000 houses built worldwide
Habitat for Humanity of Orange County is an affiliate of Habitat for
Humanity International. Since its founding in 1976, Habitat International
has built more than 250,000 houses worldwide, providing simple, decent and
affordable shelter for more than 1 million people. Habitat for Humanity
International is currently the 16th largest homebuilder in the United
States, according to Builder OnLine magazine.
