McGraw-Hill Construction's Architectural Record Announces 2008 Advertising Excellence Awards at AIA 2008 Convention
BOSTON, May 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Architectural Record, McGraw-Hill
Construction's prestigious monthly publication, the magazine of The American
Institute of Architects (AIA), and part of The McGraw-Hill Companies
(NYSE: MHP), today presented its 12th annual Advertising Excellence Awards to
33 companies and agencies in recognition of the most effective ads in the
building and design marketplace. The awards breakfast hosted 290 architects,
manufacturers, editors, marketers and industry leaders, including the AIA's
EVP and CEO Christine McEntee, at the Boston Marriott Copley Place Hotel
during the AIA 2008 National Convention and Design Exposition.
"Best of Show - Double-Page Spread" winners included Armstrong Ceiling
Systems and Zban Advertising for "Infusions Accent Canopies" on cover 2, page
1 of Architectural Record's January 2008 issue; ERCO Leuchten GmbH and
Electric Gobo for "Tune the Light" on pages 10-11 of the March 2008 issue; and
Hunter Douglas Contract and DMD for "Contract-Vision" on pages 18-19 of the

Winners for "Best of Show - Single Page" included The American Institute
of Architects and Giant Ideas for "Walk the Walk" on page 204 of the January
2008 issue; National Gypsum Company and Luquire George Andrews for "New Gold
Bond Brand" on page 140 of the February 2008 issue; Sage Electrochromics, Inc.
and Falls Agency for "Intense Intense Ingenious" on page 31 of the March 2008
issue; and Sloan Valve Company and Interline Creative Group, Inc. for "Ecos"
on page 31 of the January 2008 issue. "It's hard to make plumbing sexy," said
the jury panel about the Sloan ad. "Its use of a similar background color and
simple text make this ad quite arresting visually."
