Red State Update's Popularity Continues to Grow as Election Coverage Heats Up

Dualtone Music Group this week announced that
the hillbilly satirical comedy team and proprietors of Red State Update,
Jackie Broyles and Dunlap, recently topped the impressive 10 million mark
in online hits for their web-based comedy sketches on YouTube, MySpace and
Salon.com.
Since Red State Update's featured placement in last summer's CNN/YouTube
Democratic debate, the quirky Southern pundit wannabees have become two of
the unofficial rising stars of this year's presidential election. Comedy
shorts created for YouTube, MySpace and Salon.com have attracted thousands
of loyal subscribers -- and their most popular YouTube video has garnered
well over a half-million plays alone. All positive signs as Dualtone
prepares to release Red State Update's very first CD, "How Freedom Sounds,"
on July 22nd.
"Reaching that level of 10 million views is a significant achievement
today... not too many people can brag about a number like that," said Scott
Robinson, president of Dualtone. "It's really an essential milestone as we
work together to raise the profiles of these guys. We're looking forward to
seeing what the future holds for Red State Update, especially as we get
ready to release their very first CD this summer... I think the appeal of
these two Redneck stars of cyberspace is now growing beyond their web
sketches."
True, Red State Update's popularity has begun to swell beyond their
enthusiastic Internet following as Jackie and Dunlap's unique, off-beat
brand of political humor has also started to attract the attention of many
major media outlets. With numerous appearances on CNN, coverage on
syndicated radio outlets like NPR, an AP story picked up by USA Today and
the cover story of the Nashville Scene, Red State Update has proven their
appeal reaches outside their weekly webisodes.
This week's notable web achievement comes on the heels of even more
visibility for Red State Update, as they just made another appearance CNN's
"American Morning" today. Check it out at:

Continue to watch for Red State Update on the campaign trail as they make
featured appearances on TV, syndicated radio and the web throughout the
rest of the year leading up to the presidential election.
Founded in 2000, Dualtone is the same label that brought you the
quarter-million selling comedy act, Hayseed Dixie. The label that has won
three Grammy Awards and been nominated for twelve Grammy Awards has also
been home to such acts as June Carter Cash, Brett Dennen, Guy Clark,
Charlie Robison, Jim Lauderdale, Chely Wright and the Nitty Gritty Dirt
Band.
