LMI Receives CDC/ATSDR Public Health Improvement Award for 2008

MCLEAN, Va., May 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) have selected LMI for the Partners in Public Health Improvement Award for 2008. Since its 1999 inception, the Division of the Strategic National Stockpile (DSNS) in the CDC Coordinating Office for Terrorism Preparedness and Response has worked with LMI's Health Systems Management group, supplemented by specialists from throughout the company. LMI is being recognized for "distinguished support" of the DSNS in three crucial performance areas: the Federal Medical Stations (FMS) concept, the Stockpile Resource Planning (SRP) System, and DSNS pandemic influenza preparedness.

LMI Vice President William B. Moore said, "LMI is honored to receive this award, and to have been part of a vital effort concerning our nation's public health security."

The award states that LMI "has helped ensure the DSNS remains prepared to meet future public health catastrophes in the responsive way that characterized its acclaimed performance in the past. Ensuring this as the SNS has grown and DSNS missions have expanded has been crucial. The DSNS could not have done it nearly as well without the special help of the LMI."

LMI is a not-for-profit government consulting firm established in 1961 at the behest of Secretary of Defense Robert S. McNamara. Best known for its logistics expertise, LMI's work now includes acquisition, facilities management, financial management, information technology, and organizations and human capital. LMI clients include all federal defense, civil and homeland security agencies, as well as state and local governments.
