Srinagar, May 16: An Indian para-military soldier, who had deserted his ranks yesterday alongwith a sophisticated weapon, committed suicide on Friday after shooting himself from his own service rifle.
The soldier identified as Mohammad Iqbal Rather had fled his camp in South Kashmir from service rifle, five magazines and some ammunition yesterday. "The police registered a case and launched investigations to trace him out," a spokesman para-military forces, Prabhakar Tripathi told NewsBlaze.
The absconding soldier fired towards himself from the service rifle. He died instantly. "We have launched investigations to ascertain the reason for the soldier deserting the camp and committing suicide", he added.
Police have also registered a separate case into the investigations.
