2008 Report on the Environment Press Conference

EPA's 2008 Report on the Environment (EPA 2008 ROE) will provide the American people with an important resource to better understand trends in the condition of the air, water, and land and related changes in human health in the United States. The EPA 2008 ROE frames key questions the nation needs to answer in to protect the environment, and addresses each issue using scientifically sound indicators that have been developed with extensive public input.

The EPA 2008 ROE updates the draft ROE released in 2003. After the first ROE, EPA decided better indicators were needed, and began the Environmental Indicator Initiative to identify indicators in an open and transparent manner.

This is a critical document for informing public debate on EPA's research priorities and next steps, and therefore will be announced at EPA's 7th annual Science Forum on Tuesday, May 20. Media may either come to the Forum, or use the call-in phone number below.
