Should Starbucks Be Renamed Slutbucks?

By Robert Paul Reyes

There are so many injustices and horrific crimes in the world for Christians to complain about: Genocide in Third World countries, the Iraq war, the intentional blocking of relief supplies by the military junta to hurricane-devastated Burma.

But a Christian group is all hot and bothered over the Starbucks logo. If they complained about the outrageous prices at Starbucks, they might have my sympathy. I refuse to take out a loan so I can afford a cappuccino at Starbucks.

"Seems that one person's smut is another person's morning latte.

A Christian group based in San Diego found grounds for outrage over the new retro-style logo for Starbucks Coffee.

The Resistance says the new image 'has a naked woman on it with her legs spread like a prostitute,' Mark Dice, founder of the group, said in a news release. 'Need I say more? It's extremely poor taste, and the company might as well call themselves Slutbucks.'" Quotation from Paul Walsh/Star Tribune

The description of the logo by Dice is more pornographic by far than the actual logo. I'm surprised the owner of an online pornographic site hasn't offered Dice a job writing captions for their photos.

If you want a real pornographic image just snap a pic anytime Britney gets out of her limo. The Starbucks retro logo doesn't even merit a PG-rating.

The Resistance is calling for a nationwide boycott of Starbucks. I'm so outraged at this nutty group that I'm going to wipe out my life savings and buy a couple of lattes at Starbucks.
