Senior and Arts Center Celebrates First Anniversary in Folsom
Local seniors and fine arts enthusiasts alike will celebrate the first anniversary of Folsom's popular Senior & Arts Center at 48 Natoma from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 30. Guests may view the debut of a new art exhibit, learn more about the center's unique programs and activities, and enjoy live music and refreshments.
"Our anniversary celebration is our way to thank those who have made the center's first year so successful and to invite others to see the tremendous variety of programs and activities we offer," said Sandy Hilton, Senior & Arts Center Manager.
The new art exhibit, "Shadows from the Past," features the watercolors of Kara Castro, and black and white photography by George and Joe Ann Aiello. Castro is an award-winning artist whose work has been featured in a variety of arts magazines. The Aiello's photographs capture the Mother Lode and Northern Mines regions focusing on subjects relating to the Gold Rush. Their work has been featured in several Northern California exhibits.
The opening reception for the exhibit will be hosted by the Folsom Patrons of the Arts. In addition to the gallery exhibit, a display by the Folsom History Museum will showcase historical photographs of the region, and local groups who use the Center at 48 Natoma will display artistic work.
A Program Expo in the center's Activities Room will feature displays and information showcasing the wide variety of programs available for seniors and art lovers. A detailed list of activities is provided in the Parks & Recreation Department's Summer Activities Guide mailed to all residents and posted on the City's website, www.folsom.ca.us.
