Discovering Wicca Has Made Me Emotionally, Spiritually, and Physically Better

By Keltasia

Wow. A teenage girl makes bad choices. What a new concept. The same teenage girl rebels against her parents. I've never heard of such thing! Ok, I'm being sarcastic for those of you who aren't aware of it.

The religion of Wicca as formulated by Gerald Gardner is an initiatory religion. Minors are not initiated into it. Since the 1950's, however Wicca has gone through changes. There is more information available and it has become mainstream. This has lead to children trying to learn about a religion but they have little to no guidance in understanding the concepts of it.

Whenever asked about Wicca by minors, I make it a point to get their parents involved. I also recommend reading the book When, Why, If by Robin Wood. This book delves into the ethics of Wicca and magic better than most I've read and includes a variety of scenarios that require much thought as the Wiccan Rede (an' it harm none....) and the Threefold Law (what you send out comes back to you 3x).

Children are generally not ready to deal with the consequences and have little interest in ethics. They are also full of drama in their growing up years. These are two reasons why they are not included in Traditional Wiccan covens.

As for myself, I didn't start reading about Wicca till in my mid 20's. I had spent years in Christianity and it had only offered me depression and I was suicidal. Since discovering Wicca (over 10 years ago), I am much better off mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. Wicca does not involve a scapegoat like the devil in Christianity. We are aware that we are individually responsible for our own lives and our own actions. It is not a religion for those with weak wills and weak minds.
