Price increases will vary for specific products within each of the

"These increases are in response to unprecedented high demand for
elemental phosphorus, a key raw material for these products, and to a shortage
of energy in key producing regions ofChina," said Jan Vijverman,Albemarle
business manager for polyurethane flame retardants. "Significant price action
is required to ensure a continuing supply of our products.
"Furthermore, during this period of instability in price and availability
of phosphorus,Albemarle may only be able to guarantee short-term pricing
validity dates under new or renewed contracts for phosphorus-containing
products, and may be required to enact further price increases with little
notice, as contracts allow, in order to assure reliable supply," Vijverman
said.
ANTIBLAZE and SAYTEX flame retardants, part ofAlbemarle's Polymer
Additives segment, add life-saving properties to materials used in rigid foam
insulation and roofing materials; flexible foam for furniture and furnishings;
and coatings, adhesives, sealants and other building materials.
