A software product developed for the Air Force by Silver Spring-based government contractor DMS International, Inc. (DMS) has been named by the American Council for Technology (ACT) to its list of finalists for the 2008 Intergovernmental Solutions Awards.
DMS employee Kristofer Olin developed the Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS) Combined Board (JCB), a software deficiency report that streamlines multiple processes that review many of the same deficiencies but would otherwise be held separately due to roles and responsibilities required by existing processes. The JCB has been successful in eliminating duplication of effort, resolving conflicting decisions and maintaining an acceptable level of segregation of roles and responsibilities, and will include the Navy in the near future.
"The JCB has made the process of managing deficiency reports with inputs from over a dozen agencies a much smoother process. It replaces a process that took months to get through, and does in a couple of weeks," said Olin. "The new process saves time by enabling one person to do the work of three, and very smoothly."
"This nomination by ACT is a testimony that DMS innovation policy throughout the enterprise delivers value and excellence to its customers," added DMS CEO Magdalah Silva.
The Intergovernmental Solutions Awards were created by ACT to recognize projects that demonstrate technology leadership and business transformation, lead to measurable improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of government programs, and can be replicated. Awards are presented each year at ACT's Management of Change conference, which will be held this year June 8 through 10 in Norfolk, Va.
ACT is a non-profit educational organization founded in 1979 to assist government in serving the public through the effective and efficient acquisition of information technology resources. ACE provides education, programming and networking opportunities to enhance and advance the use of information technology in the government.
DMS is a woman-owned, privately held small business that provides information technology professional services to government agencies, commercial clients and non-profit agencies. DMS follows ISO 9001:2000-based processes and procedures.
