The Hush Sound Say Hello to the Road With Full-On Summer Headline Tour; Acclaimed Band to Be Joined on Multi-Artist Bill by The Cab, The Morning Light, and Others; Itinerary Kicks Off July 7th in Pittsburgh

Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen recording group The
Hush Sound have revealed their travel plans for the summer with the
announcement of an upcoming North American headline tour. The schedule
sees the Chicago-based band celebrating their recently released third
album, "GOODBYE BLUES."
The trek will commence on July 7th at Pittsburgh's Diesel, with dates
continuing through late-August (see itinerary below). Joining The Hush
Sound on all dates will be fellow Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen recording
group The Cab, whose eagerly anticipated debut album, "WHISPER WAR," has
just debuted at #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart. In addition, a
number of other acts will appear on the tour on select dates, including
Steel Train and The Morning Light.
Presale ticketing for all shows (with the exception of an August 4th date
at San Francisco's Slims) is set to begin tomorrow, May 14th. During the
presale, the band will offer 20 VIP tickets in each market which will allow
those ticketholders the opportunity to attend soundcheck. For more
details, check www.thehushsound.com and www.myspace.com/thehushsound. The
Hush Sound -- who are currently traveling the continent alongside
Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen's own Panic At The Disco on the 2008 Honda Civic
Tour -- will unveil additional dates in the coming weeks.
"GOODBYE BLUES" -- which follows the Chicago-based band's acclaimed second
album, 2006's "LIKE VINES" -- was recorded last fall at North Hollywood's
Fairfax Recordings with producer/engineer Kevin Augunas (Cold War Kids, Jon
Brion) at the helm. Tracks such as "Honey" and "Medicine Man" see The Hush
Sound thumbing through the back pages of American music, filtering blues,
swing, rock, and folk through the prism of their own unique sensibility.
The result is the band's most ambitious work to date, a mature and
masterful album which displays their distinctive gift for melding emotional
depth, intellectual vigor, and catchy pop buoyancy.
"All of a sudden everything just clicked," says vocalist/pianist Greta
Salpeter. "This record is the consummation of our unconsummated marriage."
"GOODBYE BLUES" had already begun to receive praise from a variety of
national outlets. "One of the most mature releases in recent Ramen
history," declared All Music Guide, praising The Hush Sound's "usual mix of
co-ed vocals and jaunty songcraft" while commending the group for its
"willingness to experiment." Blender hailed Salpeter for "(raising) both
the blood pressure and the competency of everything she touches, from the
stomping 'Medicine Man' to the bouncy, old-timey 'Love You Much Better.'"
"'GOODYBYE BLUES' has the structure and completeness to make this an album
that sticks with the listener over time," says AbsolutePunk.net, adding,
"The only thing you'll be saying goodbye to is the same recycled pop-rock
trash you've been listening to."
