A Crowning Achievement for International Pageants and Go Red For Women
ROANOKE, Va., May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- International Pageants, Inc., the
managing group for the Mrs. International(R), Miss International(R) and Miss
Teen International(R) competitions, has teamed up with the American Heart
Association's Go Red For Women movement to fight heart disease among women.
The Go Red For Women movement helps women understand that while heart disease
is their No. 1 killer, it is largely preventable. In support of this
movement, the International Pageants system will incorporate Go Red For
Women's resources for preventing heart disease, stroke and other
cardiovascular diseases in their international campaigns.
"We are delighted to work with International Pageants to raise awareness
of heart disease among women," said American Heart Association Chairman of the
Board, Gary L. Ellis. "International Pageants embraces our mission and is
committed to a long-term grass roots campaign supporting our education
initiatives."
Working at a local level, each contestant in the International Pageants
system will bring the Go Red For Women messages to their communities. With
the amount of women who participate in the competitions on a yearly basis, the
alliance between International Pageants, Inc. and Go Red For Women is a
natural connection. International Pageants includes approximately 150 Queens
internationally, ranging in age from 13 years-old to 56 years-old. The
pageants highlight the many successes and charitable causes each contestant
supports throughout the year.
"As a platform based competition, we have always believed in the concept
of social responsibility, both locally and internationally," said Mary
Richardson, executive director of International Pageants, Inc. "Partnering
with the American Heart Association is a great honor and we look forward to
relaying their messages worldwide."
The Go Red For Women movement will be introduced to the 2008 pageant
contestants at the International Competition kick-off events held inChicago
in July. During the kick-off events, the contestants will attend a Go Red
themed affair, learn about the American Heart Association's mission and meet
representatives from the organization.
