Former Member of Congress, Now Running for President, in Sacramento


Presidential candidate and former six-time Georgia member of Congress Rep. Cynthia McKinney - who called for the impeachment of President George Bush and voted against the war in Iraq - will be in the Sacramento area Tuesday, May 13.

McKinney, running for the Green Party's presidential nomination, will be in Sacramento TUESDAY, 4-6 p.m. at Carol's Books, 1913 Del Paso Blvd.

The first African-American woman elected to Congress from Georgia, McKinney will then speak TUESDAY, at 7 p.m. on "The Politics of Poverty: Discussion with Cynthia McKinney" at UC Davis, 1100 Social Sciences Lecture Hall.

McKinney is one of four candidates vying for the Green Party's national nomination, which will be decided at a national nominating convention in Chicago July 10-13. She is also a candidate for the Peace & Freedom Party ticket.
