Up for Debate This Week: War Spending, the Farm Bill, and Flood Insurance


WASHINGTON, May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- This is the WashingtonWatch.com federal legislative update for the week of May 12, 2008.

This week, the House will consider a spending bill for military operations inIraq andAfghanistan. The precise bill is not known yet, but it is likely also to include spending to extend unemployment benefits and increase college aid to veterans.

The House will also debate H.R. 2419, the Food and Energy Security Act of 2007. Among other things, the bill would provide for the continuation of agricultural programs through fiscal year 2012.
