The Government of Canada Represented at Tibetan Canadian Cultural Centre Annual Gala Dinner

TORONTO, ONTARIO - (Marketwire - May 9, 2008) - Senator Consiglio Di Nino, on behalf of the Honourable Jason Kenney, Secretary of State (Multiculturalism and Canadian Identity), will take part tomorrow in the second annual gala dinner for the Tibetan Canadian Cultural Centre in Toronto.

"An event such as this underlines the importance of respecting the dignity of all people and helps us learn from each other and experience our differences while celebrating our common Canadian identity," said Secretary of State Kenney.

"Our Government will continue to preserve and promote the fundamental Canadian values of freedom, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law," said Senator Di Nino.

The Government of Canada is committed to reaching out to all Canadians and is developing lasting relationships with ethnic and religious communities in Canada. It encourages all communities to participate fully in Canadian society by enhancing their level of economic, social, and cultural integration.
