By Alan Gray, NewsBlaze

A Folsom Water Department employee was arrested on May 8th, 2008 for Embezzlement.

Folsom Police Detectives were contacted by Utilities Department employees, who reported discovering the theft of Chlorine containers, from a water treatment facility, by Mitchell Alan Barnett, 47 of Rancho Cordova, an employee.

On May 8th, 2008 Detectives served a search warrant at Barnett's residence and located the chlorine and a few other items that were property of the City of Folsom. The total value of the recovered property was estimated to be less than $500.

Barnett was arrested for Embezzlement by a Public Employee and 2nd degree Burglary. He was booked into the Sacramento County Jail with bail set at $5,000.

"Theft from the City of Folsom is theft from the taxpayers and will not be tolerated", said Lt. Sheldon Sterling, Commander of the Criminal Investigation Bureau. "The public's trust is sacred to us. We have an obligation to the community we serve, and to our fellow public servants, to weed out any public employees who don't deserve that trust".
