Mother Receives Once-in-a-Lifetime Opportunity as Her Daughter Wins 'The Good Time Country Contest With Alan Jackson And Six Flags'
NEW YORK, May 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Six Flags proudly announced the
winner of the nationwide "The Good Time Country Contest With Alan Jackson And
Six Flags", Kimberly Johnson. She is an active-duty military mother stationed
at Fort Sam Houston Army Post who has served her country inIraq. She will be
graduating from nursing school later this month. While she grew up listening
to the music of Alan Jackson, Kimberly entered not for herself, but for her
own mother, JoAnne Blakely, a long-time fan of the country artist. JoAnne, a
mother of three and grandmother of six, has never seen Alan Jackson live in
concert nor has she even taken a vacation. "She is the most hard working,
humble and unselfish person I know," said Kimberly.
The announcement came to JoAnne on May 9 as Kimberly and Six Flags Fiesta
Texas representatives surprised her while working at a local H-E-B Plus. "Oh
my goodness! I can't believe this! This is amazing!" cried JoAnne in disbelief
upon receiving the news.
"The Good Time Country Contest With Alan Jackson And Six Flags" asked
applicants to write an essay describing what country music has meant to them
in their life and why they were deserving of winning. Alan Jackson himself
helped select the winning essay and Kimberly was chosen from over 3,000
participating entries.
Kimberly and her mother will receive an all-expense-paid trip toLas Vegas
with three guests to attend The 43rd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards on
May 18, 2008. Additionally, they will get an all-expense-paid trip to attend a
concert of their choice that is part of either the 2008 Starburst Thursday
Night Concert Series or 2008 Sunday Rocks! presented by
DanceDanceRevolution(R) at any Six Flags location. Finally, Kimberly's mother
will have an exclusive meet-and-greet with Alan Jackson himself!
This heartfelt endeavor meant so much to Kimberly that she was willing to
sacrifice attending her own graduation ceremony to give her mother this
incredible opportunity, truly a Mother's Day gift not to be forgotten!
