Saudi National Arrested in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 9: A national of Saudi Arabia was arrested by the Indian army in North Kashmir, close to the frontier with Pakistan.

Police sources said that the Saudi national identified as Noor-ul-Haque Hussain was arrested by Indian army personnel during a routine check near Line of Control (LoC) at Karnah in North Kashmir, some 155 kms from summer capital Srinagar.

After a brief questioning, army handed over the Saudi national to police for further questioning.

It is pertinent to mention here that foreign nationals are barred from traveling without permission in the border areas in Kashmir. The foreigners have to seek permission to visit Kashmir.

Police sources said that during questioning the Saudi national told police interrogators that he had lost his passport and other travel documents. They said that police is ascertaining the facts. "The investigations are going on," added the police sources.
