Editor: Alan Gray, NewsBlaze

The City of Folsom's annual Public Works/Public Participation Day offers an array of fun activities and useful information for children and adults. This year's event will run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 21 in Rodeo Park at the end of Stafford Street. Admission is free.

"Catch the Reading Bug" at the library station, board a garbage or fire truck, take an up-close look at some zoo animals and meet a few adoptable pets. Curby, the popular robot, will be on hand again this year to teach children about recycling.

There will be free balloons, popcorn and small give-away items for all attendees. Staff from many different City departments will share information about City services and respond to questions.

The local celebration is scheduled in conjunction with the American Public Works Association's National Public Works Week, May 18 - 24. The theme of this year's celebration is "Public Works: The Future is Now."
