Indian Air Force Soldier Commits Suicide in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 8: An Indian Air Force (IAF) soldier hanged himself to death in Kashmir during the preceding night.

A police spokesman in Srinagar told NewsBlaze that a Radar fitter of IAF hanged himself at the Air Force headquarter, Koil in south Kashmir during the night intervening Wednesday and Thursday.

The deceased soldier was identified as Krishan Kumar, (No. 742576 unit 3005).

He said that police have registered a case and launched investigations.

The Indian Army has also launched a separate probe into the incident.

This is the first time that a soldier of the Indian Air force has committed suicide in Kashmir. Scores of Indian army, para-military and police personnel have committed suicides in Kashmir this year. The Indian army has taken several measures including introducing of yoga class to check this menace, but despite their preventive measures the soldiers continue to take their lives.
